Segundo a nota de imprensa que o Jornal Hora H teve acesso, a reunião de alto nível foi convocada pelo Presidente da República de Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, na qualidade de Presidente do Grupo dos 77+China.
De acordo com a missiva, o convite foi feito na sua recente visita de Estado a Angola que o estadista cubano fez ao Presidente João Lourenço, aceite nessa mesma ocasião.
A Cimeira vai ter como tema “Desafios Actuais do Desenvolvimento: Papel da Ciência, Tecnologia e Inovação”, com sessões de trabalho distribuídas por dois dias, sexta-feira e sábado desta semana.
Após a abertura nesta sexta-feira de manhã pelo Presidente cubano, no mesmo acto em que deverá discursar também o Secretário-Geral da Organização das Nações Unidas, António Guterres, vai seguir-se o debate geral onde os Chefes de Estado participantes terão a oportunidade de exprimir as suas ideias e pontos de vista à volta do tema escolhido e outras considerações sobre a realidade actual do Mundo.
