Em resposta, o MPLA orientou de imediato o seu grupo parlamentar a tomar todas as providências para que o Parlamento angolano “não venha a ser instrumentalizado para a concretização de desígnios assentes no que o partido no poder considerou de uma clara agenda subversiva, imatura e total irresponsabilidade política”.
Em comunicado, o MPLA apelou os cidadãos angolanos para manterem a “serenidade, a coesão e o respeito pela diferença”, mas exortou os seus militantes, a manter “um alto sentido de vigilância” e a “cerrar fileiras em torno da firme liderança de João Lourenço”.
