Os líderes africanos devem assumir as suas responsabilidades para que todos os cidadãos do continente vivam bem, afirmou o Presidente cabo-verdiano ao condecorar com a Ordem Amílcar Cabral a víuva do primeiro Presidente angolano Maria Eugénia Neto, pela mobilização das mulheres na luta pela independência do seu país, e o antigo primeiro-ministro e diplomata tanzaniano Salim Ahmed Salim, ex-secretário-geral da antiga Organização da Unidade Africana, amigo e defensor dos ideais de Amílcar Cabral e que assistiu à proclamação da independência de Cabo Verde a 5 de Julho de 1975.
A cerimónia em que José Maria Neves condecorou mais 18 organizações e personalidades, aconteceu nesta quarta-feira, 5, na cidade da Praia.
“Cinquenta anos depois, os termos de intercâmbio entre África e outras partes do mundo são extraordinariamente desiguais, os líderes africanos têm uma responsabilidade enorme de romper esta barreira, a descolonização mental e intelectual de África e assumirem plenamente as suas responsabilidades para uma África em que todos os africanos vivam bem”, afirmou Neves, quem destacou “o gesto heroico de Cabo Verde em lutar pela libertação”, que “contou com muita entrega e generosidade da Casa dos Estudantes do Império em Portugal, onde Amílcar Cabral conheceu o importante contributo de Agostinho Neto, Lúcio Lara, Alda Espírito Santo e Marcelino dos Santos”.
