A Província do Namibe acordou nesta segunda-feira, 12 do corrente mês, com ondas de protestos realizados por jovens que prestam serviços de moto-táxias e a população local que reclama pela subida do preço dos combustíveis que actualmente custa 300 Kwanzas o litro de gasolina, afirmaram os munícipes ao Jornal Hora H.

Segundo a fonte, em resposta, a Polícia de Intervenção Rápida usou granadas para dispersar os cidadãos que estavam nas ruas, enquanto os moto-taxistas observaram em casa um protesto massivo denominado “A mota fica em casa”.
O cruzamento da Avenida 5 de Abril com a rua principal 5 de Abril foi o principal local do confronto, onde os agentes da polícia e os jovens permaneceram cerca de quatro horas em avanços e recuos.
Sete pessoas desmaiaram e dois agentes da polícia foram feridos devido às pedradas e outros objectos que foram remessados pela população.
Ao longo dos protestos os agentes da Polícia Nacional deteve 12 jovens manifestantes.
