O presidente da UNITA, Adalberto Costa Júnior, acusou o Chefe de Estado de estar a preparar-se para fazer “um golpe constitucional”, depois de terem vindo a público as declarações de João Lourenço ao Canal France24, em que este afirma, a propósito da possibilidade de um terceiro mandato, que, “se calhar podemos falar disso mais lá para 2027”.

O presidente do maior partido da oposição, entrevistado pela rádio Maranata, na cidade de Lubango, província da Huila, onde se encontra para visitar as estruturas partidárias da sua organização, lembrou que “o Estado democrático de direito tem regras muito claras, portanto, está fora de hipótese esta condição”.
“E é uma chamada de atenção que aqui faço”, advertiu ACJ, no mesmo dia em que, na cidade de Menongue, província do Kuando Kubango, o Presidente da República, na qualidade de Comandante-em-Chefe das Forças Armadas Angolanas (FAA), durante a reunião com as chefias militares, defendeu a modernização das FAA “para que possam cumprir o papel que a Constituição e lei lhes confere na defesa da independência, da soberania nacional, da integridade territorial e do combate a qualquer tentativa de subversão do poder legítimo”.
