A classe jornalística angolana condenou, durante uma marcha, em Luanda, os constantes ataques a profissionais da comunicação social e à liberdade de imprensa. Os jornalistas exigem, também, o fim de sucessivos assaltos às estruturas do Sindicato de Jornalistas Angolanos.
“Quem tem medo da liberdade” foi o lema de uma marcha organizada, este sábado, pela classe jornalística angolana, que se vê a braços com uma onda de ameaças e assaltos à sede do Sindicato de Jornalistas Angolanos (SJA).
O líder do movimento sindical, Teixeira Cândido, considera que os assaltos às estruturas do Sindicato dos Jornalistas Angolanos representam uma grave ameaça à liberdade de imprensa.
“Os jornalistas decidiram sair hoje às ruas por se sentirem ameaçados no exercício da sua actividade. A sede dos jornalistas angolanos foi assaltada e por três vezes, em menos de um mês, a última das quais, na madrugada desta sexta-feira e de lá roubaram um computador. Em todas essas ocasiões, não se conhece o autor. O Sindicato dos Jornalistas Angolanos não tem quaisquer dúvidas de que se trata de um ataque à liberdade. O Sindicato dos Jornalistas Angolanos qualifica, como grave e assustador para um Estado que se quer democrático”, referiu o sindicalista.
Por sua vez, o jornalista Ismael Mateus lamenta o facto, defendendo que as ameaças à classe são apenas tentativas para intimidar os jornalistas.
“Nós estamos a dizer a quem está a fazer isso que nós não aceitamos. Que nós não nos vergamos. Portanto, os jornalistas deste país manifestaram-se, apresentaram-se e estão aqui a dar a cara”, desabafou o antigo secretário-geral do Sindicato dos Jornalistas Angolanos.
Willian Tonet, director do semanário Folha 8, entende que não há motivos para perseguir jornalistas, já que a única missão de um profissional da comunicação social é apenas informar.
“Este regime ‘assestou’ contra a liberdade de imprensa, contra o jornalismo, como nunca tinha feito José Eduardo em 38 anos e isso é que nos dói porque nós combatemos a ditadura de José Eduardo dos Santos”, lembrou o jornalista.
