O Presidente da República, João Lourenço, disse hoje no acto de tomada de posse do novo Secretário de Estado para os Sectores da Aviação Civil, Marítimo e Portuário, Rui Paulo de Andrade Teles Carreira, para prestar maior atenção à nossa companhia de bandeira a TAAG.

O chefe de Estado disse ainda que desde os primeiros momentos da nossa Independência – já lá vão 48 anos – que o país sempre deu uma grande importância à aviação civil e foi, ao longo dos anos, investindo seriamente na nossa companhia de bandeira, a TAAG.
João Lourenço, que foi feito um grande investimento nos recursos humanos, nas tripulações, nos técnicos de manutenção, nos gestores, mas também um grande investimento na aquisição e manutenção de aeronaves.
O nosso continente não tem muitas companhias como a nossa. São poucas. Nós próprios não temos dado a devida importância. Portanto, o que nós gostaríamos de pedir neste momento em que é empossado é que, a partir de hoje, preste, sem prejuízo das outras áreas que também são da sua responsabilidade, mas que preste particular atenção à nossa companhia de bandeira, a TAAG.
No entender do Chefe de Estado, temos que ser mais ambiciosos para fazermos dela uma companhia mais competitiva, que sirva melhor os seus passageiros, os seus utentes.
Nós somos um país africano. Penso que temos a obrigação de, com a nossa companhia, servir melhor o nosso próprio continente, abrindo mais rotas em África.

Nós estamos a encomendar novas aeronaves à Boeing, mas precisamos de não descurar a necessidade de recuperar a actual frota.
Nós já temos uma frota que não é nada pequena, é grande, com alguns meios de baixa que precisam ser postos de alta, independentemente de esperarmos, nos próximos anos, receber mais meios já encomendados e anunciados.
Portanto, a missão é esta, é bastante importante, mas acreditamos que, pela experiência que tem na área da aviação – aliás nunca fez outra coisa senão isso, nunca saiu da casa -, creio que acertamos na aposta que fizemos em si.
