O Presidente da República, João Lourenço, recomendou, esta quarta-feira, aos quadros dos Serviço de Inteligência Externa (SIE) a estarem de “olhos abertos” a tudo que se passa no mundo, sobretudo em termos de estabilidade e segurança.
O Chefe de Estado fez o pronunciamento quando concedia posse à nova directora-adjunta dos Serviços de Inteligência Externa, Teresa Manuel Bento da Silva, nomeada recentemente por Decreto Presidencial. Numa breve intervenção, o Presidente João Lourenço lembrou que o mundo de hoje é cada vez mais conturbado e marcado por conflitos de toda a ordem. “Esta madrugada mesmo fomos surpreendidos com alguma instabilidade que reina na República do Gabão, um país irmão aqui mesmo próximo”, afirmou o Estadista angolano.
Na madrugada desta quarta-feira (30) um grupo de militares do exército gabonês anunciou um golpe de Estado, em rede nacional de televisão local, após a divulgação dos resultados das eleições gerais do país.
O anúncio foi feito num comunicado de imprensa lido no canal de televisão “Gabon 24”, por cerca de uma dúzia de soldados gaboneses, sendo que na sequência as fronteiras do país foram fechadas. Quanto ao Serviço de Inteligência Externa (Angola), é o órgão destinado à produção de informações, análises tendentes à realização de medidas e acções de inteligência e de segurança de Estado.
A acção desse órgão visa, fundamentalmente, garantir a segurança externa do país, a preservação do Estado de Direito Democrático constitucionalmente estabelecido e a protecção da população contra ameaças e vulnerabilidades.
